34-year old Chris Mahon, from Hebburn, recently completed his Manufacturing SMART Programme at the Building Futures East site in Walker.
Luca Enrico Solliat originally came from Italy, where he had trained in electronics and worked as a mechanic. He then spent a year in New Zealand as a mechanic before coming to the UK in 2012.
Paul Tambin attended NAC’s Manufacturing Smart Programme at the Building Futures East site in Walker. Having served his time in the Army, Paul wanted to start a new career in manufacturing. He was sure that he had lots of transferable skills that would help ensure his success.
Nathan Metcalfe, from Grindon in Sunderland, had been unemployed for almost three months when he came on the NAC Group’s pre-employment course. Nathan had previously worked for a short time at Calsonic on a limited contract. Nathan found this very frustrating as he wanted a permanent post.
Sam Johnston, from Sunderland, found NAC’s Smart training very helpful and effective.
“The Smart service gave a great insight into what different employers want from a potential employee”, writes Sam. “For me personally it all happened incredibly fast as I finished the course on the Friday, had an interview with Nissan the following Thursday and started work on the Tuesday after.”
