NAC's Logistics Team have worked closely with MP Metalcraft to develop strategic planning capability! Jeff Tuck MD said: " This project has developed a co-ordinated system of control which has enabled us to accept a substantial increase in orders with the confidence that they could be delivered to existing standards of quality, on time and within budget."
This has enabled the company to increase the value of orders that can be accepted and delivered on time to customer's requirements.
M&P Metalcraft Ltd has been established for over 20 years, serving a wide range of customers with light to medium size steel fabrications. Based in Middlesbrough, the company designs, fabricates and installs all manner of structural and architectural steel products such as fencing, staircases, steel security doors and fire escapes, and a wide range of plant and equipment, using time served craftsmen.
A range of relevant KPIs were established and introduced to ensure the business understood and regularly reviewed the key aspects of production planning which could affect them. All of these KPIs were put in place to measure and improve the overall capacity of production.
The company has recently won some large Local Authority contracts, which it is able to process alongside existing business as a result of capacity gained from the improvements to the planning control system. This has not only safeguarded the existing jobs but has resulted in a short term 50 percent increase in the workforce.
Jeff Tuck, Director said:
"We have previously identified a need to consolidate and develop our existing systems of control for the various production processes within the business but were unsure exactly how to implement that change. With NAC's help we have conducted a root and branch review of all our systems and developed a co-ordinated system of control which has enabled us to accept a substantial increase in orders with the confidence that they could be delivered to existing standards of quality, on time and within budget."
